Capturing a moment of change is a recurring theme that weaves through the fabric of my work. Through the act of painting or drawing, I depict people and places when they are either facing or embracing change. I see human development as similar to the seemingly solid nature of architectural structures in that they both provide me with the endless challenge to depict their secrets, moods and special characteristics.

 

I strive to capture the distinct qualities of a person or a place, seeking beauty and strength in the asymmetrical or broken. In this way I draw from the challenges of my own life experiences. As I continually transform and redefine myself, I find inspiration in the remnants of once-intact factories, taking dubious comfort that while some are shuttered, others are successfully re-purposed to provide entirely new functions.
